The old and the new

old boat dock on the Hayarkon River, Israel

The old has history, stature and memories - the new only shininess [JMT]

Thoughts

  • This year the dock was replaced by a parking lot booth on the top of the bank. I could not force myself to take a picture of the new even if only to compare it with the beauty of the old.

This is the complete structure. Would you replace this? Some of you would say yes, but I see history, memories, a link to the past, a man’s life. I was sad to see it go.

I agree. I will pass a once proud structure that has fallen into disrepair and will ponder the hope and life that was the original vision. How gratifying when someone chooses to reconstruct such a property and imbue it with renewed purpose.
